Interpretation of the No-Spike Agreement
Between Superior and Northtown.

Below are a few examples of how the agreement is applied.

Example № 1:
Turn C25 is called to handle train MSUPNTW on duty at 08:00, Superior to Northtown. Turn A10 is called at 10:00 to deadhead to dog catch Hinckley Local at Cambridge and handle to Northtown. Turn A10 arrives at Northtown at 15:00, turn C25 arrives Northtown at 16:00.

Q. Which turn is first out at NT?
A. Turn C25 is first out.

Example № 2:
Turn C25 is called to handle train MSUPNTW on duty at 08:00, Superior to Northtown. Turn A10 is called behind for deadhead either combined or separated ISUPNTW on duty at 11:00. Turn A10 arrives NT at 13:30, with turn C25 arriving NT at 14:30.

Q. Which turn is first out at NT?
A. Turn A10 is fist out, account straight-away DH terminal-to-terminal.

Example № 3:
Turn C25 is called at 18:00 to handle train MGALSUP NT to SUP, they depart NT at 20:00. Turn A10 handles a train into NT and DH's NT to SUP they begin their DH at 22:00 and arrive at SUP at 01:00. Turn C25 arrives on their train at SUP at 01:30.

Q. Which turn is first out at SUP?
A. Turn A10 is first out, account straight-away DH terminal-to- terminal.

Example № 4:
Suppose in example № 3 using the same times, turn A10 is instructed to stop and dog catch a train at Boylston and handle it to SUP and arrives SUP at 01:00 ahead of C25.

Q. Which turn is first out at SUP?
A. Turn C25 is first out, account they were called at NT ahead of A10 and because A10 handled a train into SUP they are place on the board in SUP according to order called at NT.

(Note: if turn A09 were to arrive SUP between A10 and C25 the turns would be placed in the following order: A10, A09 and C25.)

Example № 5:
Turn C25 is on duty at NT at 15:00 for MGALSUP and departs at 17:30. Turn A10 is called to DH SUP to NT and handle train CATMSUD back to SUP, they arrive from either combined or separate DH at NT at 16:00 and depart on train at 16:45 ahead of C25. Turn A10 arrives SUP at 23:30 and turn C25 arrive SUP at 23:45. No turns arrive between these two crews.

Q. Which turn is first out at SUP?
A. Turn C25 is first out. They were on duty at NT when turn A10 arrived from their DH, in this situation C25 maintains its position ahead of turn A10.

Example № 6:
First out turn C25 is called on duty at NT at 15:00 for CATMSUD and departs at 15:45. Turn A09 is called for 15:01 for UMADALL and departs at 16:00 and is running behind C25. Turn A09 is instructed to abandon their train at Nickerson and deadhead to SUP. Turn C25 arrive on train at SUP at 02:30 and turn A09 arrives via deadhead at 02:01.

Q-1. Which turn is first out at SUP?
A-1. Turn C25 is first out, account A09 did not deadhead terminal-to-terminal.

Q-2. In example № 6, suppose turn C29 arrives at SUP at 02:15, what is the placement order of the turns?
A-2. Board placement would be, A09, C29, and C25.

A final note: The 31 minute call between trains and deadheads applies only to terminal- to-terminal deadheads and not to deadheading for train such as ECOB's, UKEEMAD's, these situations do not fall under the 31 minute call.
