In the above example this engineer worked one road trip during a 15 day period which paid a total of $341.97. Notice also that this engineer was off the board one day (subject to be prorated at 1/15th of the guarantee) personal leave which is attached to this trip ticket (DM4761) and paid $152.91 . This engineer was also paid $2286.40 in guarantee money for protecting 14 of the 15 day pay period, to arrive at this amount see worksheet below:

1st - Offset the working trip.

341.97     actual total amount earned on 02-10-00, DM4761
- 19.00     minus amount "In Addition" of SPD
322.97     sub total (1) carriers down

322.97     sub total (1) carried for above
-152.91     minus personal leave pay "In Addition"
170.06     ending total which applies to guarantee (2) carries down

2nd - Calculate the pro-ration for the personal leave day (1/15th).

2631.92     current guarantee amount
÷     15      days in the pay period
175.46     1/15th

Note: if you are off the board more than one paid day (personal leave, vacation...), multiply $175.46 (1/15th) by the number of days off the board to arrive at the prorated amount. For pay periods of different lengths i.e.. 13, 14, 15 or 16 day half's, see 8/3 Extra Board Days Off Agreement - Rule 6.1 for further explanation.

3rd - Calculate the guarantee amount.

2631.92     current guarantee amount
- 175.46     minus 1/15th. (off board one personal leave day)
2456.46     sub total (3) carriers down

2456.46     sub total (3) carried from above
- 170.06     minus prorated trip amount (2) carries from above
2286.40     total guarantee payment for this 15 day period

After the adjustments have been made, we see that in the end, this engineer has the consequents of a $3.55 lose because of the prorated personal leave day that was taken.

  2631.92     current guarantee amount
- 2628.37     minus total pay for the 15 day period
       3.55     difference between the two
